Lumibird Medical today announced the launch of ASTRAL®, a contactless Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) platform with an integrated OCT visualization system to transform glaucoma treatment. The unveiling takes place at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) Congress 2026.
As Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty continues to gain popularity as a first-line treatment for glaucoma and ocular hypertension, clinicians are seeking solutions that improve accuracy, results, and patient experience. ASTRAL® addresses these needs by combining integrated anterior chamber OCT scans with a lens-free transscleral SLT delivery system, enabling physicians to visualize, target, and treat the trabecular meshwork with unprecedented confidence.
Unlike traditional SLT systems, ASTRAL® incorporates real-time OCT visualization directly into the treatment workflow. The platform generates up to 120 radial cross-sectional views of the anterior chamber and displays precise anatomical information for each treatment location, allowing physicians to identify and target the trabecular meshwork accurately and consistently.
